I will not a put a synopsis for this specific novel because it is the second novel in a trilogy, but I will put a synopsis for the first book in the trilogy, Scarlet.
Synopsis:
Will Scarlet is good at two things: stealing from the rich and keeping secrets - skills that are in high demand in Robin Hood's band of thieves, who protect the people of Nottingham from the evil sheriff. Scarlet's biggest secret of all is one only Robin and his men know...that she is posing as a thief; that the slip of a boy who is fast with sharp knives is really a girl.
The terrible events in her past that led Scarlet to hide her real identity are in danger of being exposed when the thief-taker Lord Gisbourne arrives in town to rid Nottingham of the Hood and his men once and for all. As Gisbourne closes in a put innocent lives at risk, Scarlet must decide how much the people of Nottingham mean to her, especially John Little, a flirtatious fellow outlaw, and Robin, whose quick smiles have the rare power to unsettle her. There is real honor among these thieves and so much more - making this a fight worth dying for.
Review:
Again I must praise A.C. Gaughen for writing such an entertaining, and such an enjoyable novel. This was just full of great romance, storytelling, and twists (especially at the end) that I probably should of saw coming but I didn't. The ending took me by surprise and I was just so sad!!! You all know how much I absolutely love when books catch me by surprise! A.C. Gaughen really is making this beloved story of Robin Hood and is adding new elements, characters, and is making it something new. Something fun to read. She is making it her own. I am so worried for these characters and I can't wait to pick up the final installment in this trilogy. This is not like mind blowing but is just really enjoyable and I couldn't put it down. I didn't really have any problems except I wanted a little more action, like the first book but the ending made up for that! YOU HAVE TO READ IT!! Telling everyone I can about it.
NOW WARNING... Spoilers Section (DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT READ Book 1: Scarlet, AND Book 2: Lady Thief)
So if you are reading this section, I am going to assume that you read the first book (Scarlet) and this one as well. In this second installment, we mostly follow Scarlet and Robin Hood. Don't worry we still see Much, and John! So of course in this novel, Scarlet’s true identity was revealed. Her forced marriage to Lord Gisbourne threatens Robin and Scarlet’s love, and as the royal court descends upon Nottingham for the appointment of a new Sheriff, the people of Nottingham hope that Prince John will appoint their beloved Robin Hood. But Prince John has different plans for Nottingham that revolve around a fateful secret from Scarlet’s past even she isn’t yet aware of. Forced to participate in court alongside her ruthless husband, Scarlet must bide her time and act the part of a noblewoman—a worthy sacrifice if it means helping Robin’s cause and a chance at a future with the man she loves.
The main villains in this book are of course the horrifying Lord Gisborne and Prince John. Let me just say I HATE PRINCE JOHN'S GUTS!! Ahh, he is so cruel and nasty and is such a spoiled child. "A.C. Gaughen did a phenomenal job of keeping that persona but adding malicious, cruel, unfeeling, lust for blood in his character as well and make him REALLY seem like a scary person".
The ENDING just broke me!! Ahhh John dying and oh it just made me so sad! He was going to be a father, and have his happy ending. Just Amazing!!!
